From September 6th - October 1st 2010 I'll be exhibiting a new body of work made specifically for the Gallery of Wonder
The Nature of Desire
Welcome to the blog for the exhibit The Nature of Desire. The artworks have been designed and produced by the conceptual artist Corinne Lewis. This blog gives you the opportunity to respond to the exhibit and highlight any particular areas of interest associated with it.
Let me know if you have a favourite item, what value you would place upon it, if you would like to purchase the item and why you would like to own it i.e. for a specific person or occasion.
At the end of the show the items will be available to purchase. At this stage you are free to make a considered decision about how much you think your chosen item is worth.
Ultimately this is a creative experiment to examine our relationship to objects and the value we place upon them. If we buy something for next to nothing do we value the object more or less, or if we buy it at a premium do we cherish the object and pass it on to other family members? Does the handmade object have more value to us or the technologically advanced but mass produced item?
Let us know your thoughts below, and thank you for taking the time to contribute.
I would also like to say a huge thank you to the following people who have made the creative process that I have been through so rewarding:
Irene Brown - for giving me the opportunity to be part of the inspirational Gallery of Wonder your support and encouragement have been essential to realize the potential of this work.
Ben Jones - who wrote the text for the publication that has been produced for the Exhibit, I really appreciate all of your hard work.
Chris McHugh - who assisted me to produce the resin cast pieces, thank you so much for all of your help and advice.
Jo Dale - who has produced some stunning embroidery on the fabric items, you are an amazing talent and I appreciate all of your hard work and enthusiasm for this collaboration.
Many Thanks
Corinne
